The IBD/TIPP Poll has set the standard for accuracy in presidential polling. We have been recognized as the nation's most accurate pollster in the 2004, 2008, 2012, and 2016 presidential elections, having correctly predicted the outcome in each of the last four election cycles.
2016 Presidential Election
The IBD/TIPP Poll was one of only two polls to predict President Trump's victory in 2016, as noted by Fox News. In fact, ours was the only national poll to show Trump ahead in a four-way race heading into Election Day 2016.

2004 and 2008 Presidential Elections
In the 2004 presidential election, the IBD/TIPP Poll came closer than any other national poll to mirroring the actual popular vote margin. Meanwhile, our poll got the 2008 election precisely correct. An analysis of the polling results from Investor's Business Daily can be found here.
Each month, TIPP, in collaboration with Investor's Business Daily, produces the IBD/TIPP Economic Optimism Index, a highly-anticipated measure of Americans' sentiment towards economic conditions. Besides the headline consumer confidence number, the index also tracks Americans' short-term outlook for the economy and their personal finances, as well as satisfaction with federal fiscal policies. The index has a strong record of accurately predicting the consumer confidence indicators published by the University of Michigan and The Conference Board.
Today, our Economic Optimism Index is a staple of the investment and financial world, and a month doesn't go by when major newswires like the AP, Bloomberg, Briefing, Market News and Reuters don't carry our poll results. Additional coverage comes from major television and radio networks, including NPR, CNBC, and Fox News, with in-depth coverage on shows like Fox News Channel's Your World with Neil Cavuto, CNBC's Kudlow & Company and WABC radio's The Larry Kudlow Show. Regular coverage can also be found in global publications such as the Financial Times, and local news organizations such as Newsday, Detroit Free Press, San Diego Union Tribune, Boston Globe, and Boston Herald, among others.
